Interim Report on Migration Issues for XENEA Wallet 2.0 (as of May 30th, 2025)
We released XENEA Wallet 2.0 on May 28th, 2025. Shortly thereafter, the community reported several issues related to the migration process during the upgrade. This notice summarizes the primary causes identified and our response status as of May 30th, 2025.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will post updates on this matter on this blog as things progress.
Confirmed Issues and Countermeasures
Issue 1: Unable to log in with Google
Affected users: Those who use “Login with Google.”
Cause: Google may block sign-in attempts from certain users or devices due to its policies.
What we need from you: Please send a screenshot of the error screen to our support desk to help us pinpoint the cause.
Issue 2: Unable to use Google Drive when backing up the key file
Affected users: Those who use “Login with Google.”
Cause: Google enforces a per-application quota on sign-in operations. A surge of logins immediately after the update exhausted this quota.
Status: We requested and received one quota increase, but the limit has been reached again. A second expansion is now pending. Please wait and try again later.
Note for Android: If you see PlatformException(sign_in_failed, com.google.android.gms.common.api.ApiException: 10:), this will be fixed in the next update (v2.0.1).
Issue 3: Application crash
Case 3-1
Affected devices / situation: Older devices running Android 8
Cause & Countermeasure: Crash caused by AppTheme. A fix is scheduled for v2.0.1. We also recommend keeping Android OS up to date.
Case 3-2
Affected devices / situation: Certain devices from Chinese manufacturers
Cause & Countermeasure: Compatibility issue. Support will begin with v2.0.1.
Case 3-3
Affected devices / situation: Devices that obtained the APK from unofficial stores
Cause & Countermeasure: Only the official Google Play version is supported. Please install the latest version from the official store.
Issue 4: Stuck on the “Now Processing…” screen
Cause: The server-side wallet-key storage function was not working correctly.
Status: Already fixed. If the same symptom persists, please report it.
Issue 5: Key-file backup not saved to local storage
First, check whether a backup exists at: Internal storage -> Documents -> XENEA Wallet
If the folder is missing, the key file may have been lost. If you are logged out, choose one of the following:
- If you have the QR-code image: Import it in the app.
- If you do not have the QR-code image: Contact our support with your account information. We can reset the wallet on our side, after which you can create a new wallet. Be sure to export the QR code and verify that a backup is generated in local storage.
If you have already created a wallet and deposited assets, please transfer all assets to another wallet before resetting.
Status: We plan to provide a feature to regenerate backup files and to reset and recreate a wallet when logged out.
Issue 6: Gems are reset after the update
Cause: Gems are reset if you restore a wallet with a backup file that belongs to a different account from the one currently logged in.
Request: Please use a backup that matches your account. The wallet will display a warning if the backup file does not match, and you must answer the security questions correctly before the reset proceeds. If you need assistance resolving this issue, please provide as much detail as possible about the actions taken before the gems were reset.
